Whim Hosts Detroit's 1st Fashion + Tech Hackathon
Whim-Detroit, in partnership with the MEDC’s Pure Michigan Business Connect, is hosting Detroit's first fashion innovation challenge; a 36 hour weekend challenge merging fashion and technology disciplines.
What is a hackathon?
A hackathon is a 36 hr weekend sprint challenge that brings together passions across a number of disciplines to solve real problems facing brands in the industry. The event structure is best described as an “invention marathon” with the goal of building a working prototype to present to the judges.
What is the goal?
Focused on building the foundation for innovation in Detroit, the mission to build upon the local innovation trend will bring together makers, designers, creatives and tech passions to create new solutions to problems real problems facing the fashion and retail industry.
Teams will be challenged to create new solutions and working prototypes in the areas of new innovations, commerce, retail and intelligence. Finalists will present their pitch and solution to an expert panel of judgest from the fashion and tech industry.
Who can participate?
Anyone who is passionate about fashion! We are looking for teams and/or free agents who are creators, designers, developers and data enthusiasts. Teams will have access to industry experts and mentors to help them move from ideation to prototype over the weekend.
